The course introduces the background, path to and development of European integration. It examines the European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community and Euratom treaties, the Single European Act, the Maastricht Treaty, the Amsterdam Treaty, the Nice Treaty, the Lisbon Treaty. The primary objective of the course is to acquaint students with the integration within the European Union. It introduces the main features of the EU institutions, EU policies and the EU legal system, as well as the topic of the EU as an international actor. |
