Research Ethics: Conflict of interests in research

The workshop is a part of the course on “Research ethics”.

The primary goal of the workshop is to acquaint students with

the concept of conflict of interests and to raise their awareness

of ethical challenges associated with conflicts of interest in

research practice.

The workshop covers following topics: definitions of conflict of

interest; personal conflicts of interest, financial conflicts of

interest; commercialization of science; disclosure and

management of conflicts of interest; the role of trust in science.

Additional learning outcomes provided by the group instructors:

Workshops are passed (or failed) on the basis of the student’s

activity (participation in group works, class discussions, etc).

Failure to pass one or both of the workshops makes it

impossible to take the final test, and, as a result, to get a credit

for the course “Research ethics”
