Basic understanding of sustainable development challenges.

This course focuses on evaluation of selected indicators used for monitoring and measuring of progress towards SDGs.

Students will learn about databases of statistical offices of selected countries and international organizations.

The data from that databases will be used to forecast social, environmental or economic phenomena.

The course enable to attain practical skills needed to create SD reports.

Methods of data presentation and good practices in SD reporting will be presented.

1. Agenda 2030 SDGs (2h).

2. Overview databases of the GUS, OECD, Eurostat, MONET, WB (4h).

2. Systems of SD indicators: GUS, Eurostat, OECD, MONET (4h).

3. Mesuring progress, Exploring Data, Introduction to Forecasting (8h).

4. SD implementation, monitoring and control, good practices (2h).

5. Building value through sustainability reports (4h).

6. Methods of data presentation (2h).

Upon completion of the course the student:

- analyses the challenges of sustainable development;

- recognizes trends in social, economic and environmental phenomena;

- interprets and explains the trends in time;

- creates and justifies the choice of a system of indicators SD;

- creates forecasts of social, economic and environmental phenomena;

- collects data and creates and presents a SD report;

- is able to critically assess the SD reports.
