We will discuss the texts on three types of processes: (1) our development as entities capable to think and act, (2) the emergence of human species as social beings, (3) the development of modern science. In the course of our discussions the teleological nature of development will be put into the question: is development aimed at any goal by necessity? |

The course will be composed of three modules. The first module will provide students with knowledge on innovations in terms of sustainable development. During the course case studies of leading sustainability innovations will be discussed with an emphasis put on the good practices for future. During the second module of the course the students will learn issues related to the impact of the new technologies on sustainable development and its application in organisation management. The third module of the course will offer topics related to knowledge diffusion and knowledge spillovers in terms of sustainable development. |

This course focuses on evaluation of selected indicators used for monitoring and measuring of progress towards SDGs. Students will learn about databases of statistical offices of selected countries and international organizations. The data from that databases will be used to forecast social, environmental or economic phenomena. The course enable to attain practical skills needed to create SD reports. Methods of data presentation and good practices in SD reporting will be presented. |

The course aims at translating macro-level sustainability considerations, encapsulated in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), into micro-level strategies formulated in a social enterprise project. Building upon the concepts of Strategic Management, Sustainability and Design Thinking it reveals how the individual actors may address sustainability challenges in their strategies and how they measure, assess and report strategy implementation. Students will be exposed to a number of real-life strategic dilemmas involving sustainability pressures, and encouraged to make their own decisions, using analytical tools and field research They will learn to build business models that address sustainability challenges and stakeholder pressures and discuss sustainability with invited guest speakers. |
